Dr. Helen Kambic
Dr. Helen Kambic served as the Director of museum exhibits at the International Center for Artificial Organs and Transplantation headquartered in Cleveland. The museum opened in 1981. She designed and built the three galleries, cardiovascular, kidney and transplantation and implantation to chronicle the development of artificial organs and transplants as well as to offer a peek at future technology. Some 2,000 items comprise the museum’s collection. The museum offered educational programs for students and served as a reception site for several professional societies. During the 1990’s the museum was moved to Houston under the direction of Dr. Y. Nose.
Dr. Kambic retired as Emeritus Staff from the Cleveland Clinic and later became Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. She has authored and co-authored more than 250 scientific publications and continues to serve on the editorial board and reviewer for several scientific journals. She obtained her Ph.D. from Cleveland State University.
